Pop music played loudly: The phrase appears beneath Lately David's stylized logo — a catchphrase with a bold swagger and an unfiltered simplicity. For the band, the phrase has become equal parts mission statement and marketing message; a tag line and a goal line, both distilled down to their essences and presented in four simple words. And the concept behind those words — it's played out both in live performance and on record in the band's music.
Hernando, Mississippi-based Lately David draws upon influence from the likes of REM, The Who, The Beach Boys, and Memphis, Tennessee's seminal Big Star to write and perform pop music with wit, attitude and an edge. The band's live performances feature a loud, brash brand of pop music chock full of material from their two self-released albums that meld the attitude of 1970's glam, the sounds of 1980's post-punk, and the hooks of modern pop.
Our passion is to perform music for our community. We will provide free concerts at our home location, the Southaven Performing Arts Center, several times throughout the year. Both bands will also be available for hire, in whole or in part, to fulfill musical needs in the community. Our members are volunteers from all walks of life. The common thread that ties us together is the love of music and of sharing that music with others.
